Neurology
Orthopedic medicine focuses on diagnosing and treating problems with bones, joints, and muscles. This area of medicine helps people who have injuries, pain, or conditions that make it hard to move. Doctors who specialize in orthopedics know how to assist with problems like broken bones, arthritis, and sports injuries. They use different treatments, such as exercises and casts.
HHC Free Clinic volunteer Ortho providers will create a customized treatment plan based on patient needs, and will support patients in achieving their care goals.
People that can benefit from physical therapy (PT) include patients recovering from an injury or surgery, experiencing chronic pain or stiffness, or who would like to be able to move around more easily.
By gradually adding or increasing the difficulty of exercises chosen by your provider based on your needs and goals, it’s possible to improve your quality of life and get back to doing the things you love.
PT can also involve other treatments depending on the patient’s needs and goals. Most patients will have exercises to do at home between appointments.
A neurologist can meet with patients to evaluate and treat a wide variety of conditions affecting the nervous system, including common symptoms like persistent headaches, seizures, dizziness, memory problems, numbness or weakness in the limbs, tremors, and sleep disorders.
Neurologists can diagnose and manage neurological diseases such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, stroke, migraines, neuropathy, and brain tumors.
