Free Fresh Market

HOW IT WORKS

Through local partnerships with the High Country Food Hub and Western NC Farmers, Hunger and Health Coalition purchases fresh produce to be distributed to those in our community experiencing food insecurity.

WHAT'S PROVIDED

As a piece of our Food is Medicine work, fresh produce is available to clients each week. Produce varies every day as we work to support our local regenerative farmers!

SUSTAINABILITY

First, our Food Recovery Team goes out to collect produce and bring back to HHC.

In addition to the work we do to support our local farmers, we also partner with local grocers to reduce food waste by collecting fresh produce that would otherwise be sent to the landfill.

Staff and volunteers go through every piece of produce to ensure only the best is available to those coming to our doors.

Anything that doesn't meet our standards is picked up by local pig farmers. Diverting food waste from landfills.
